How do you do, fellow kids?

Okay, I realize it’s been years since I posted here. There are reasons and non-reasons. But I have things in the works, and I’ve recently lost my day job at the company to which I gave 34 years of my life, and I suddenly find myself with lots of time on my hands for dicking around with websites and blogs (and other little things in the works) that have lain dormant for nearly a decade. And with so much time gone by and so many fresh, new authors having come on the scene while I’ve been meno-pausing and sitting around having various existential crises, I feel like Steve Buscemi carrying two skateboards when I try to creep back onto the set.

All this to say, I’ve been revamping the website for the past several weeks because my former website template provider (Squarespace) is raising its rates, and I can’t really justify the expense. So I’ve come back to WordPress. Anyone remember my cute little WP site from the late aughts, “Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell,” with Reni’s The Archangel Michael Defeating Satan banner? Well, some missionary or preacher or something took the name, so I had to create a new one. Hence “Betwixt Heaven and Hell” in the banner, which I’ve combined with my “slogan” from the Squarespace site: Sinfully Delicious. (It’s about apples. And sacrilege. And porn.)

So then I remembered I used to have a newsletter, and I started working on reviving it, and at one point, ChimpMail suggested I upload my logo to be used in various templates. And I thought, what frickin’ logo? Authors have logos now? To be fair, the Chimp doesn’t know I’m an author and not some legitimate money-making business. (Note to the IRS: That was a joke. It IS a legitimate money-making business. I just don’t make any money.) But I figured, what the hey? So I played around and made the logo below.

And then I realized it was utterly illegible at the size it was meant for.

So I made this little one:

But I really like the dark one. Just don’t know where I’d use it. Although, on second thought, it kind of looks like I wrote a book called “Sinfully Delicious.” Ha. Maybe I will.

(Oh, and in case anyone cares, I do not and will not use generative AI or AI assistive features in my design or writing. But that’s a whole ‘nother post.)

Anyway, if you’ve subscribed to my old newsletter, Elysium Veritas, you will soon be receiving the latest issue, now rebranded Sinfully Delicious News. (I know it’s been eight years. Don’t be frightened. Feel free to unsubscribe.)

So, fellow kids. What’s news with you?
